Blackboard Mobile Learn

Why can't I receive notifications on the app?

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2012 11:13AM PST
There are several reasons why you may not be receiving push notifications if you are using Mobile Learn version 3.0 and above:

1. Is the site your school has connected to Blackboard Mobile Learn running Blackboard 9.1? Push notifications are only supported at school's using Blackboard Learn 9.1 and utilizing the 3.0 building block or higher. Please don't get scared of the technical jargon, there is a quick way to find out!  Go to the School Finder Page, search for your institution, and look at the "Server Version" box.  A school running Blackboard 9.1 and using 3.0 will appear as 91.3.0 under "Server Version" or higher (e.g. 91.3.5).  Unfortunately, school's using Vista, ANGEL, Blackboard Learn 9.0, or Blackboard Academic Suite 8.0 cannot get push notifications in the app.

2. Are you logged in on the Mobile Learn app? You must be logged in order to receive notifications.

3. iOS only: Notifications are only received when you are outside of the Mobile Learn app. If you are in the Mobile Learn app, new Mobile notifications will not be observed until switching out of the Mobile Learn app.
